Build Your First Chatbot

Self-paced · About 12 hours · Final assessment within 2 weeks of unlocking · 100% online

Chatbots are one of the most popular uses of AI. In this level you use Python decisions, loops and text handling to build a rule-based chatbot, the same way the earliest chatbots worked, and you see exactly where rules end and AI begins.

What you will be able to do

  • Use if, elif and else to make decisions in code
  • Repeat tasks with for and while loops
  • Work with text: clean it, search it and respond to it
  • Store replies in lists and dictionaries
  • Design, test and improve a conversation flow
Level project: A rule-based chatbot that holds a short conversation on a topic you choose.
